LORNEVILLE STOCK SALE

DROP OF 15/- A HEAD

Yesterday’s Beef Values FAT SHEEP MARKET EASIER

Although values for prime quality bullocks were on a par with those ruling the previous week, prices for other sorts showed an easing tendency of about 15/- a head at the weekly sale at Lorneville yesterday. The yarding included some first-class beef, but little interest was shown in offerings made towards the finish. There was also an easing tendency in the fat sheep section, good quality sheep showing a drop of 3/- a head and medium and unfinished being back 4/- a head. Prices in the store section, which comprised mostly ewe hoggets, were a shade firmer than those ruling the previous week. A comparison with the yarding of the previous week is as follows: —

FAT CATTLE There was quite a good entry in the fat cattle section, and it included some quality heifers and medium-weight bullocks. The entry of cows, with the .exception of a few cases, was of only medium quality. Prime quality bullocks, in most cases, sold on a par with those of last week but other sorts were easier by about 15/- a head and over the last race passings were frequent. Prime quality bullocks brought from £l7/10/- to £lB/5/-, good quality medium weights £l5/10/- to £l6/10/-. handyweights £l3/15/- to £l4/10/-. lightweights £l2 to £l3. Extra prime heavy heifers brought from £l6 to £l7/5/-, mediumweights £l3/10/- to £l5, lightweights £lO/10/to £ll/10/-, light smaller sorts from £B/15/- to £9/10/-. Prime quality cows made from ’ £l2/10/- to £l4. medium quality £lO/10/- to £ll/10/-. lightweights £9 to £lO, with inferior sorts from £7/10/- to £B/10/-.
