IDEALS OF ROTARY

APPLICATION TO EVERYDAY LIFE

The necessity more than ever today for the full application of the principles of Rotary to personal and community life vzas emphasized in an interesting address given by the Rev. J. A. Thomson at the luncheon of the Invercargill Rotary Club yesterday. Mr Thomson reviewed a series of articles which had appeared in the Rotary magazine and he emphasized the use of the individual member’s personality and the use of his vocation to make Rotary’s contribution to the extension of international goodwill.

“The crisis which threatens the world today has been brought about by the abandonment of the fundamentals of the principles of Rotary,” he said. “Without them we can see no foundation of peace or no foundation of human progress.” It was well for members to consider what the movement stood for. They were pledged to the ideals of Rotary and had given allegiance-to the things which were so important in life, and they should satisfy themselves that they were carrying out those ideals.
