MEASLES EPIDEMIC IN CAMPS
NEW CASES OF MILD TYPE (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 10. The Director-General of Medical Services, Colonel T. Bowerbank, visited Te Rapa yesterday. He says that the men isolated there are in good spirits, comfortably quartered, and well looked after. He did not know how long they would have to remain. Speaking of the measles epidemic in the camps generally, Colonel Bowerbank said that although it had not yet abated, all the new cases were of a mild type. Every precaution was being taken to Drevent a spread of the epidemic.
EPIDEMIC SPREADING IN WAIKATO (United Press Association) HAMILTON, September 10. There is every indication that the present mild measles epidemic is spreading in the Waikato, as all the camps in the area now have some cases, while the civilian population is also affected in some parts of the district. Yesterday seven soldiers were admitted to the emergency hospital in the new West School, two being from Hopu Hopu and one from Claudelands, where the 7th Medium Battery is in camp, the other four being from the special isolation camp at Te Rapa. Thirty-nine soldiers are now in hospital.
