Super-Grades Of Petrol

In a report published yesterday it was wrongly stated that all supergrades of petrol contained tetra-ethyl-lead. It was pointed out by the representative of one of the oil companies operating in Southland that among the super-grades of petrol which had previously been available in New Zealand was one highly refined petrol which did not contain tetra-ethyl-lead. This brand of petrol had proved highly popular with motorists and considerable disappointment would be felt that it would no longer be available in pure form. While supplies lasted it would be mixed equally with standard petrol and motorists who objected to the effects of lead on the engines of their cars would be able to procure the mixture until only standard grade remained available.
