NEW HEAD MASTER APPOINTED

MR ROBERT W. MOIR OF MURCHISON

At the monthly meeting of the Bluff School Committee, the appointment of Mr Robert W. Moir, of the Murchison District High School, as head master of the Bluff School by the Southland Education Board was approved. The chairman, Mr F. H. Pearce, presided over the following members: — Messrs C. T. Beaton, D. E. S. Mason, O F. Metzger, E. J. Moon, G. Muir, E. McKenzie, J. Williamson and H. A. Ferguson (secretary). The acting head master, Mr J. R. Gardiner, was also present. A motion of sympathy with Mr D. E. S. Mason in the death of his mother was passed. Messrs Mason and Beaton were appointed the visiting committee for the ensuing month. Mr H. McQuarrie was thanked for his donation of a medal for the most improved footballer. The medal will be presented at the break-up ceremony. The report of the acting head master, which showed that the roll number stood at 308, was approved. It was decided to apply to the Bluff Tennis Club for the use of its court by school pupils on Mondays and Thursdays between 2.45 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. PERSONAL

Constable D. Anderson is at present, relieving at Bluff, Constable G. H. Bilborough being on holidays.
