CONSTABLE STABBED ON CHEEK

(United Press Association) * WAIHI, September 9. A stab on the right cheek with a sharp instrument, which necessitated several stitches, was sustained by Constable William Harper, of Waihi, who gave chase to a man seen leaving in suspicious circumstances the Borough Council yards from where benzine had been stolen. The man turned suddenly and inflicted a blow, which also tore )art of the constable’s clothing. So far no arrest has been made.
