To the Editor. Sir,—-Councillor Macalister’s statement as to the Finance Committee’s report is all right so far as it goes, but it does not go far enough. It is clear enough that Mr Macalister moved the adoption of the committee’s report' because he was chairman. Quite a number of your readers are curious to know who Brought up the proposal in committee not because there is .any odium attaching to his having done so, but because of the ungallant silence. It is in striking contrast with the chairman’s loyalty to his colleagues.—l am, etc. A.B.
