To Beautify the Arms

A fact not generally known, except amongst beauty specialists, is that the condition of one’s arms discloses one’s age almost as surely as the lines and wrinkles on one’s face.

Unless they are given special attention, they “fall in” from wrist to elbow, and form an ugly little hollow on the outer side, gooseflesh appears, and sometimes a mottled look beneath the skin.

With the prospect of winter dances and sleeveless evening frocks, every woman should give her arms a beautifying treatment at least three times a week.

For this, bathe the arms in warm soapy water and dab dry with a soft towel. Put a piece of cold cream, about the size of a small nut in the palm of the hand and rub it into the other arm, rubbing in a circular direction round and round on the arm. Start from the wrist and work towards the elbow, then from the elbow to the shoulder. Smear a little cream along the inner side of the first finger and thumb, and, clasping the wrist of the other hand like a bracelet, rub the cream in, rubbing round and round. When all the cream has been absorbed by the pores, sponge the arm with cold water and dust over with talcum powder. Treat the other arm in the same way, and then -when both have been massaged and bathed, practise a few'arm exercises. Stand erect, clench the fists with the arms hanging loosely at the sides. Slowly raise them to a level with the shoulders, then bend at the elbow, so that the clenched fists touch the shoulders. This exercise improves the shape of the upper arm. Stand with the arms hanging loosely at the sides. Bend them at the elbows, which should rest against the sides of the waist, turning the hands with the palms upwards. Twist the hands loosely round and round from the wrist, without moving any other part of the arm. This develops and beautifies the line of the lower arm, from elbow to wrist, giving the pretty curve so much admired.
