LOVERS LESS FICKLE

FEWER CANCELLED MATCHES. Are prospective brides and bridegrooms less fickle than in previous years? Figures for the first three months of this year in Britain show that fewer marriage licenses have been cancelled. than in any quarter since the war. A West End registrar of marriages stated lately that during the previous three months fewer than 100 licences were cancelled whereas in the same period last year, over 400 licences were cancelled or allowed to lapse. “I have sensed a difference during the past months when prospective brides and grooms have made appointments for their marriage,” the. registrar said. “Their attitude has been more serious. “In the majority of cases this year death , or illness has been the cause of cancellation. The figures are a healthy" sign and show that a marriage to-day is not entered upon in any light-hearted manner.”
