VAGRANT VERSE
FROM THIS MOUNTAIN. (Written for the Southland Times). Into the immensity of my thought a star falls. The sudden warning of its flight recalls the earth I stand on, bounded by my sight, the air I share • with all of nature’s thralls. Below man’s puny efforts to translate confusion lie pitifully bare, chaotic to this quickly glazing eye. Is there decision anywhere, or does all revelation flare, and die ? —B r uxmhilde. Invercargill, June 3, 1930.
