HOCKEY

TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW. The following players will represent the Union hockey team on Wednesday:—E. Hope; C. Sparkes, E. Insal; E. Burrel, D. Cleine, J. Ronald; E. Woodhead, J. Buchanan, M. Woods, A. Conley, N. King. Emergency, M. Fletcher. EASTERN DISTRICT. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. Hockey enthusiasts will be provided with a field day to-day when 24 teams will compete in a seven-a-side tournament at the Hostel grounds. Teams from all parts of Eastern Southland will compete. The trophies comprise seven handsome silver cups to the winning team, seven oak shields with silver mountings to the runners-up, and seven silver cups for the winners of the consolation prize. The following teams have been selected to represent the Mataura Club in the tournament :—

A team: M. Chamberlain, E. Maley, M. Maley, M. McVicar, Mabel Maley, Mrs. Maley, B. Donnell. Emergencies, N. Curtin, M. Munro.

B Team: S. Redman, R. Allison, N. Curtin, N. English, G. McVicar, M. Clearwater and A. Stewart.

The following will represent Gore ExHigh team: A. Laidlaw, M. Murdoch, V. Nicol, E. Smith, M. Beattie, M. McLeod and E. Murdoch; emergency, D. McDowell.
