CALL TO EDITORS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Why this moral turpitude on behalf of so. many of the people of New Zealand? Why do, not the editors of our newspapers give more earnest heed to certain moral questions and give a lead to the people of our country, many of whom are so supine, callous and indifferent to the matters of most vital importance to the moral well being of the people? The reasons for the above statements are as follows: First, how did your readers feel when they read of the shockingly, dastardly foul deed of the man who perpetrated the vilely immoral act upon a girl of the tender age of ten in New Plymouth Had the father of the girl thrashed the perpetrator of the deed within an inch of his life, no one would have lifted a remonstrating voice. Secondly, then in Gisborne, the school teacher who pleaded guilty to three acts of indecent assault upon several adult males.

Thirdly. Did those persons who read the remarks of Mr Justice Herdman in Auckland, in dealing with a series of indecent offences upon young boys and girls, recommending police supervision of the domain because of the danger that young boys and girls were subjected to by men of the baser and viler moral character, seriously consider these matters and seek in. some form or other to prevent degrading occurrences of this nature?—l am, etc., ASA.
