ACTRESS STABBED
OUTRAGE IN JAPAN.
SEQUEL TO LABOUR TROUBLE.
Kobe, May 13
As a sequel to a number of abortive strikes, a Labour play was staged in the Naka Theatre, at Osaka. Last week an actress, playing the part of a spinning operative heroine, was attacked on her way home and seriously stabbed. A suspect, who was arrested, confessed to the outrage,- and also to membership of the "Thunder Gang,” but subsequently he repudiated the confession. The play, entitled “Heaven and Hell,” was continued. Shidiuko Saijo, a Tokio actress, a substitute for the injured girl, is now receiving threatening letters signed, “Drawn sword Kokusuikai,” the Kokusuikai being a body of pseudo-Fascists. The alarmed actresses in the play are now being escorted home each night.
