BALCLUTHA SCHOOL

EX-PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the executive of the Southland branch of the Balclutha School ExPupils’ Association was held in the secretary’s office last evening, 11 members being present. Encouraging reports were received from the members of the committee who had interviewed ex-pupils with a view to interesting them in the association.

The secretary reported that the list of Balclutha School ex-pupils now known to be resident in Southland totalled 167.

Letters were received from .Gore, Wyndham and Seaward Downs stating that the ex-pupils in those districts were willing to join in ' any reunion to be held in Invercargill.

It was decided that a dinner and social evening be held in the Rosewood Tea Rooms at 7.15 p.m. on Apgust 6, particulars of the evening to be sent to each ex-pupil. It was also decided that the ex-head teachers and the secretary and 1 president of the Jubilee Committee, together with the present teachers of the Balclutha School, should be invited to attend the reunion. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of congratulation to Mr J. S. Nelson, an ex-pupil of the Baiclutha School, who has been appointed to the headmastership of the Waihopai School.
