MEDICAL ADVISER CONCERNED

MARKED CHANGE IN HEALTH

Rotorua, May 29.

An official communication issued states that Sir Joseph Ward is now seriously ill. Prior to the recent Cabinet meeting, his medical adviser was very concerned about his marked change in health. However, with the release from his heavy burdens of

office, it was hoped his health would have

a chance of improvement but unfortun

ately this has not taken place. At present Sir Joseph’s condition is serious.

A Better Day.

It was officially stated in a message late last evening that Sir Joseph Ward had had a slightly better day yesterday.

RETIREMENT REGRETTED

MOTION AT HARBOUR BOARD.

MEETING.

At the monthly meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board yesterday, the following motion proposed by the chairman (Mr. A. IL Aitken) was carried: “That the members of the Bluff Harbour Board sincerely regret the circumstances that have arisen and necessitated the retirement under medical advice of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward). The members of the board express the wish that he may be long spared to enjoy his well earned rest.”

Sir Joseph Ward was formerly a member of the board and for many years held office as chairman.
