Mr H. Carter returned to Dunedin by the express last evening. Mr A. D. Mclvor left for Dunedin by the afternoon express yesterday. Mr A. C. Mills, of Otautau, travelled to Dunedin by the express yesterday afternoon.
The appointment of Mr F.,C. Chichester as Flight Lieutenant in the New Zealand Air Force was gazetted last night. A message from Auckland announces the death of Mr Victor Murray, aged 74, Director of the South. British Insurance Company. .
A Levin message states that the death occurred yesterday morning of Mr William Charles Nation, aged 91, a well-known journalist and for many years president of the New Zealand Spiritualistic Association. Deceased came to New Zealand in 1857 when his father founded the Nelson Colonist and was subsequently in journalism in the Wairarapa and Manawatu. Mr Nation was the originator of Arbour Day celebration in the Dominion. He was deeply interested in psychic phenomena and almost up to . his death edited, set up and printed the monthly journal in the interests of spiritualism.
