The Australian cricketers commence the ninth match of their tour against Oxford University to-day. The weather is fine and warm. Yorkshire, first innings 198 (Sutcliffe 89; Freeman took four for 75 and Peach four for 38) second 242 (Leyland 105; Peach six for 111. Kent won by 54 runs. Worcester v. Gloucester: Worcester, first innings 156 (Sinfield six for 76) second innings 111 (Sinfield six for 72). Gloucester first innings 280 (Root five for 95). Gloucester won by an innings and 13 runs. Nottingham v. Leicester: Nottingham, first innings 153 (Astill four for 46) second 216. Leicester, . first innings 86 (Voce four for 28, Larwood three for 20) second 103 (Staples four for 37, Voce six for 42). Nottingham won by 180 runs. Glamorgan v. Hampshire: Glamorgan, first innings 189 (Newman five for 36) second three wickets for 71 (declared). Hampshire, first innings 105 (Mercer five for 40, Ryan five for 59) second five wickets for 65. Glamorgan won on the first innings.
Somerset v. Essex: Somerset, first innings 105 (Tate six for 37) second 146 (Langridge six for 72). Sussex, first innings 223, second two wickets for. 31. Sussex won by eight wickets. Warwick v. Essex: Warwick, first innings six wickets for 501, declared (Smith 124, Croom 83, Bates 110, Wyatt 78). Essex, first innings 178 (Paine five for 35). Essex followed on and scored five wickets for 233 (Russell 100). Warwick won on the first innings.
