SERIOUS CLASHES STORIES OF ATROCITIES FIFTY PERSONS KILLED TROOPS FORCED TO FIRE (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Delhi, May 27. Savage rioting broke- out at Rangoon this morning between Burmese and Indian dock coolies, and the casualties are estimated at 50 dead and over 700 injured. The Cameron Highlanders, who were called out, came into conflict with the rioters and were immediately compelled to fire to disperse the mob. Troops at present are picketing the city with machine guns. Many bodies are said to have been thrown into the river. Terrible stories of atrocities to women and children are reported, and in one .case three Madrasi men were seized by a gang of maddened Burmese and cut to pieces. In , other instances there were small riots in which the police fired. The city is at present desolate, the mills, bazaars and shops being closed, and all traffic at a standstill. Following the raids on the Lucknow Police Station machine guns were posted in various centres. A crowd of 5000 stormed the Bombay police quarters and an assistant superintendent was killed. At Dacca Moslems and Hindus clashed, many of the latter being murdered in the streets by gangs of Moslems. Armoured cars are at present patrolling the city.
