NEW CABINET
EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT MR FORBES TO FORM MINISTRY SWEARING-IN TO-MORROW (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 26. The Prime Minister elect, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, returned to Wellington to-day from Auckland where he gave his Excellency, the Governor-General an undertaking that he would, form a Ministry. Mr Forbes spent the day in his office overtaking arrears of departmental work and was again at his desk until a late hour to-night. The new Ministry will be sworn in at 1 p.m. on YVednesday and following that ceremony, the new Prime Minister is expected to make an important statement concerning the Government’s financial programme for the year. While lobby speculation has been conferred to likely additions to the Cabinet, the fact has been overlooked that on his assumption of office of Prime Minister, Mr Forbes will be entitled to a seat on the Privy Council. This appointment, which carries with it the right to the use of the title “Right Honourable” can be expected among the announcements in the Birthday Honours list next week.
