BAIL REFUSED
ALLEGED ATTEMPT AT BURGLARY.

Christchurch, May 26
Bail was refused by the Magistrate, Mr Mosley, S.M., this morning when George Cann, aged 40, was remanded to June 3 on a charge of attempting to break and enter the shop of W. E. Munday, Ltd., in Colombo street on Saturday night. The police said that accused was an old offender. Accused, it is alleged, was caught by a neighbouring shopowner who had been disturbed by suspicious sounds. Another man escaped.
