FLIGHT BROKEN

FORCED DOWN BY BAD WEATHER. (Per United Frees Association.) Wanganui, May 23. Flying a de Souter monoplane, the first machine and the only one of its kind in New Zealand, Major Cowper,, accompanied by Mrs. Lavington of Christchurch,_ landed at Westmere near Wanganui late this afternoon. Major Cowper had intended to land at Hawera but the weather was bad and the hour late, making it advisable to curtail the journey. He will continue to-morrow to Hawera and Hamilton.
