CONTRADICTORY REPORTS. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Jeddah, May 22. The French steamer Asia left with 1,500 pilgrims for Southern Red Sea ports and subsequently caught fire in the harbour. The blaze became uncontrollable and the steamer could not be approached. It is feared that 100 passengers are-dead. A message from Marseilles states that contradictory reports are coming through concerning the pilgrim ship Asia, but it is believed that all .the and passengers are safe.
