WILD BUSH NOTES

LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.

(From Our Correspondent.)

On Monday last the first debate of the season was held in the school. Notwithstanding the inclement weather there was a large attendance of members. The subject of the debate was “That enough is as good as a feast.” The affirmative was taken by Mr J. Churchill, who had the support of other members, and the leader for the negative was Mr W. Anderson, who was also ably assisted by other speakers. A feature of the debate was the number of young members who took part, and it was particularly pleasing to see one young lady member take the floor and deliver a carefully prepared speech. The vote was taken after a spirited discussion and resulted in the negative side being declared the winners.

On Monday, June 2, a most interesting subject to farmers is to be debated, and a large attendance is expected. The question whether tractors and motor vehicles are more efficient than horses to the farmer is one that should provide good matter for debate, and the leaders are busy preparing and arranging their supporters. The question of holding competitions this season was discussed at the meeting on Monday, and it was resolved that no competitions would be held this year.
