THOSE JERSEYS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —I noticed with regret that the Southland Rugby Union have aped the Wairarapa Union in sending a protest to the New Zealand Union protesting against the changing of the All Black uniform. It is difficult to find any reason for this but the childish objection that they will not then be All Blacks in colour. It is agreed that one team should change, but is it not only customary but honourable that the visitors, our guests, should be the very last to be asked to change theirs. The British team is representative of Great Britain and as such is wearing the recognized and international colours of Great Britain on this tour. Mr Baxter, manager of the British team, has in the face of these protests kindly offered that the British team shall change their uniform, but God forbid in the name of sportsmanship of New Zealanders that the New Zealand Union accept this kind offer; rather may it hold to its former decision to change the All Black uniform if it only be out of common courtesy to our guests and apologize to the British team for the discourteous protests of these squealing unions.—l am, etc., . “SCRIBBILIS.”
