MISSING MAN’S BODY RECOVERED.

Auckland, May 23.
The body of Alexander Duthie, of Waiuku, whose damaged motor car was found yesterday, was discovered this morning in the Tamaki River, a mile from the bridge where the accident occurred.
JUMP TO DEATH. Auckland, May 22.
A verdict of suicide was returned by the Coroner, Mr Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning into the death of George Somerville Hodgson, a labourer, aged 43, who succumbed to injuries received through jumping out of a window on the third floor of the Wallaec Ward at the Auckland Hospital. A brother gave evidence that Hodgson had been out of work for some time and was suffering from insomnia. He had seen his‘brother the day before he had jumped out of the window, April 7, and he seemed quite cheerful.
DEATH FROM BURNS. Wanganui, May 22.
Mareano Potaka, known as Mareana Winiata, suffered severe burns at the Maori Girls’ College yesterday and died in the hospital to-day. She was employed as a junior teacher and it appears that she was hurried to the hospital, but expired. Her parents live at Utiku.
GUNPOWDER EXPLODES. Dunedin, May 22»
’Suffering from severe injuries to their hands as the result of an explosion of gunpowder, Donald McLennan, aged 17, and Norman Orange, aged 13, Were admitted to the hospital, this afternoon. Apparently the boys were experimenting with gunpowder when the explosion occurred. McLennan’s hand was practically blown away, and it is considered that amputation will have to be made. The accident took place at the residence of McLennan’s people at 15 Warden street, Opoho. Orange lives at 20 Evans street.
