SYDNEY WOOL SALES
MARKET STILL VERY FIRM. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) Sydney, May 21. At the wool sales, the offering totalled 9577 bales, of which 9153 were sold, also 1143 privately. The French competed very actively, and the Japanese sought medium quality well-grown lines. Prices were generally at the best point of the week. Greasy Merino brought to 21Jd. THE MELBOURNE MARKET. (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) Melbourne, May 21. When the wool sales were resumed the demand was very strong for all the better class Merinos, for which there was -a pronounced hardening tendency. The offering totalled 8,000 bales. Satisfactory clearances were made.
