Miss R. Liddell, lieutenant in the Winton Ranger Company, attended the guiders’ camp held at Invercargill last week. The Rev. A. McNeur, Mrs. McNeur and family, Milton, are visitors to Winton. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Cowie, Dunedin, are visiting Winton friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. Young, Mossburn, are staying with Mrs. W. Young Senr. Mr. and Mrs. G. Tomlinson, Motunau, North Canterbury, are staying with Airs. S. Smith.
At Badminton on Tuesday evening the opportunity was taken to present Mrs. Skelt with a handsome picture in recognition of her services to the Holy Ttrinity Church Choir. In making the presentation the Rev. 11. Gaut referred to the prominent part she had taken in all church work and mentioned that she. was one. of the promoters of the Badminton Club. He wished Mr. and Mrs. Skelt, every success in their new home in Invercargill. Airs. Skelt made suitable response.
Miss Margaret Grimwood has been visiting her aunt, Mrs G. Rizzi, Pukearuhi. Airs J. Boyle and family, Dunedin, arc staying with Mrs M. Boyle. The engagement is announced of Molly, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs M. Boyle, Meldruni Street, Winton, to Gerald, eldest son of Air and Airs AL Forde, Winton. Mre G. Cleland, Waimate, is the guest of her mother. Airs T. Thomson, Meadowlea. Mrs Hall, Thornbury, and Nurse J. Porteous, Gore, are staying with Mrs J. B. Porteous.
Mrs Loft, Wanganui, arrived in Winton on Monday.

OTAUTAU NOTES (From Our Correspondent.) The Misses Henderson, Invercargill, were the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Low, Bayswater, last week. Mrs Whipp has been staying with Mr and Mrs E. Jellyman. Mr and Mrs Nelson, who were the guests of Mr and Mrs Muirhead, Aparima, have returned to Christchurch. Miss Gellatly has been visiting Mr and Mrs Steve James, Aparima. Mr and Mrs A. Brown have taken up residence in the township. Mr and Mrs Robson, Lora, are on a short visit to the North Island. Mr and Mrs Nelson, who were staying with Mr and Mrs Muirhead, have returned home. Mrs Ayrton, Bluff, has been visiting Mr and Mrs Lightfoot, Mr and Mrs E. Harrington and Mrs Stroud, and is renewing acquaintances in the township. Mr and Mrs E. Matheson and family motored to Gore during the week-end. Miss C. Burns has been spending a holiday in Dunedin. Miss Campbell is on holiday at Christchurch, where she is the guest of Mrs Drayton. Misses Stella, Mavis and Joyce Robson and Mrs Dall, Invercargill, were the guests of Mrs Robson, Aparima, during the week. Mr and Mrs Gutschlag are spending a holiday at Athol. Misses Gonley (2) arc home for the vacation. Miss Gould was the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Lindsay, Wallacetown, during show week. Mr and Mrs Mcßeath, Aparima, motored to Invercargill last week. Mrs Gibson, Oamaru, has been staying with Mrs Dahlenburg, “Avondale Park.” Miss Hope spent the week-end at Nightcaps. Mr and Mrs Foster were the guests of Mr and Mrs Muirhead recently. Mrs H. Msr Gow and family, Winton, are at The Rocks. Miss M. Stevens is holidaying in Dunedin. Miss F. Simpson, Invercargill, has been staying with Mr and Mrs T. Molloy. Mrs Aitken is holidaying in Invercargill. There was a good attendance at the dance on Thursday evening. - Excellent music was supplied by Mr Edward Hunter (cornet), Mrs Hunter (violin) and Miss Green (piano). The euchre tournament on Thursday evening attracted a fair attendance, and those present spent an enjoyable time. Mrs W. Hopwood carried off the ladies’ prize, with a score of 21 points, Misses MilLs and Gray tieing.for second place with 19 points each. In the play-off the first-named defeated her opponent. In the men’s section. Air W. Trembath was first with a score of 23, Mr D. Macdougall being second. Aliss Wright annexed the hidden number prize. Those present were: Mesdames Hopwood, E. J. Ross; E. Miss Boldero spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs L. S. Harrington, Erniedale. Air and Mrs Janies More, South Riverton, who have been on an extended tour in Australia, are expected home this week. WYNDHAM NEWS. (From Our Correspondent.) Ali«s K Kirk, Dunedin, is at present the guest of Mr and Mrs C. E. Davey, Wyndham. ’ , Air and Mrs R. Erskine have returned from the north, and have taken up home at Menzies Ferry. Mr and Airs W. Ford and family, Hampden, are at present visiting Airs Ford, Redan street, Wyndham. Aliss L. Traynor, Dunedin, is at present visiting her parents, Mr and Airs E. J. Traynor, Wyndham. Aliss Ivy Cranstoun, Edendale, and Miss Taylor, Brydone, are at present in Sydney, and will leave later for England, with the farmers’ party. Miss E. Brown, Waimate, is at present visiting Wyndham, and is the guest of Mrs Heath, Balaclava street. Miss G. Wilson, Balclutha, is at present visiting her parents, Air and Mrs A. Wilson, sen., Ferry street, Wyndham. Miss K. Hart, Glenham, is visiting her parents in Timaru. Miss I. Stirling, “Marion Terrace,” Wyndham, who has been spending a holiday at Timaru, has returned home. Air and Mrs A. Ferguson, South Wyndham, are at present spending a holiday at Otautau.

Miss Ruth Spence, Dunedin, motored to Wyndham on Friday and is the guest of Mr and Mrs AL Tangney, Ferry street. Miss D. Reid, Mataura, was a visitor to Wyndham during the week. Mrs Noble, Invercargill, is at present visiting Mr and Mrs C. E. Walker, Wyndham. Dance at Edendale. A very successful dance was held in the Edendale Public Hall on Wednesday evening under the management of the Wyndham Pipe Band. There was a large and representative gathering present, including visitors from Gore, Alataura, Invercargill, and surrounding districts. Excellent music was supplied by Thompson’s Orchestra, Invercargill. The duties of floormasters were capably carried out by Messrs W. Stirling and D. Social Evening. On Monday evening upwards of 100 people assembled at the Menzies Ferry Hall to welcome home Mr and Mrs R. Erskine, who were recently married, and just returned from their trip to the North Island. The time was spent in dancing, suitable music being supplied by Miss Violet and Air Leslie Crosbie, “Weka Bush,” Menzies Ferry. Mr John Crosbie acted as M.C. A dainty supper was served and at a suitable period Mr G. W. Stewart on behalf of those present welcomed home the young couple, and wished them every happiness in their future life. Prior to her marriage, Miss G. O’Donnell was entertained by her friends of the district to a dance and gift evening in the local hall on Monday evening. This proved a very pleasant function. For the dance excellent music was supplied by Mrs. W. J. Cowie, Miss N. Crowe and Miss E. McGrath (piano), Messrs Langford (violin) and D. McGrath (accordeon).'At a suitable interval after supper the chairman, Mr W. Crowe called on Mr. P. McGrath to ask Miss O’Donnell’s acceptance of a tableful of useful and handsome gifts. In doing so Mr McGrath spoke of the popularity of the guest of the evening and said the attendance that evening spoke for itself. On behalf of all present he wished Miss O'Donnell and Mr Casey future happiness and prosperity. Mr R, Hamilton endorsed the previous speakers remarks. Mr M. Lavelle responded on behalf of Miss O’Donnell and in doing so, thanked one and all for the beautiful

Rogers and Miss Mollj' Rogers have returned from Wellington. Aliss Alcllutcheson is spending the vacation in Dunedin. Mrs H. F. Grant (Dunedin) is on a visit Ito Mrs H. C. AlacGibbon, Wolsley Street. The AlissesTodd (2) (Timaru), have been on a visit to Airs C. R. Green Joseph Street. Mr and Mrs J. M. Boyne have returned from Dunedin. The bridge circle of the Gore Women’s Club held a most enjoyable evening in the club rooms on Monday of last week. A prize for the highest score was won by Mrs H. Oswin and a concealed number prize by Miss Janet Rogers. Present were Mesdames F. V. Piper, J. A. Blaikie, A. T. Pettigrew, J. Brown, R. Allison, A. A. AlacGibbon, G. C. Hamilton, F. Wallis, R.
