FATAL INJURIES

YOUNG MAN KILLED ACCIDENT ON BLUFF ROAD FALL FROM MOTOR CYCLE While Charles William Owen Forbes, a motor mechanic, aged 19 J years, residing in Thames street, Invercargill, was riding a motor cycle on the Blqff Road in the vicinity of the Awarua wireless station shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday, the connecting links of the forks broke. The rider was flung with considerable force on to the roadway and sustained serious injuries, which subsequently proved fatal. Assistance was quickly forthcoming from Mr A. Storrie, of Eye street, who happened to be passing at the time and from an assistant at the wireless station. The injured man was quickly removed by ambulance to the Southland Hospital and upon arrival there it was found he was suffering from concussion, broken ribs and facial injuries, from which he died soon after admission. An inquest will be held.
