SYDNEY WOOL SALES
KEEN COMPETITION YESTERDAY. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 9.10 p.m.) Sydney, May 20. At the wool sales 8576 bales were offered, of which 8362 were sold, also 921 privately. There was a very active market with keen Continental and Japanese competition, also good support from Yorkshire. Prices for average to good wools continued to harden, while finer descriptions at times were 5 per cent, above last week’s rates. Greasy Merino sold to 19d.
