UNEMPLOYMENT

DECLINE IN GREAT BRITAIN. BUT STILL WORSE THAN LAST YEAR. (Rec. 8.5 pun.) London, January 18. The first indication of Britain’s new year hope of trade recovery, is contained in the fact that the Board of Trade figures show a reduction of sixty-three thousand in the number of unemployed, as compared with last week. Nevertheless the total unemployed is 1,432,000, which is 210,000 more than a year ago.—A. and N.Z.
