ALBION TO-NIGHT.

LON CHANEY IN “THE CHAMBER OF LIES,” ALSO “MONTE CARLO,” WITH LEW CODY AND GERTRUDE OLMSTEAD.

The charming Nonna Shearer, who is costarred with Lon Chaney in “The Tower of L»«U’ directed for Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer, and coming to the Albion theatre tonight is seen in a role which calls for a wide range of acting on account of the great number of years through which the story runs. In the early part of the picture she appears as a child, then a young women, and finally as a woman of thirty who has become hardened from contact with the world. The success of Miss Shearer in the dual role of “Lady of the Night” caused her to be cast in the role of the heroine of Salma Lagerlofs great Swedish noveL Chaney and Miss Shearer are supported by a cast of wellknown character players. Here are two of filmdom’s greatest stars in a page from the book of life itself. A picture you will take to your heart—a tale of tangled love and a father’s great sacrifice. With this theme Victor Seastrorn has woven authentic drama—soul-stirring, vivid, passionate! The matchless ralenta that made possible “He Who Gets Slapped”—Shearer, Chaney, Seastrorn—now achieve an even greater triumph in a screen attraction that will make motion picture history. Here it is—that mirth-making comedy you’ve always dreamed of seeing. “Monte Carlo,”

glowing with romance and adventure, and spiced with hilarious humour and breathless situations. It romps its merry way with three small-town girls through the gay playground of the world. It takes you meeting dukes who were doormen, counts

who were waiters, and a prince who was a penniless fraud. It shows you the screen’s most spectacular fashion show, with gorgeously beautiful women and dashing men. "Monte Carlo” is a scream. It is packed with laughs from end to end. It never

stops laughing. Neither will you. Director Christy Cabanne had a wonderful cast of players to work with. There were Lew Cody, brilliant light comedian of “An Exchange of Lives,” and “A Slave of Fashion” ; Gertrude Olmsted, of “Time the Comedian” and “Ibanez Torrent”; Zasu Pitts, of “The Great Love”; Roy D’Arcy, Karl Dane and Trixie Friganza. And remember that Christy Cabanne made “The Midshipman” and “The Masked Bride”— pictures worth remembering. Here you will see the most exquisitively natural and beautiful technicolour sequences in motion picture history. Their haunting, unforgettable charm will be talked of for weeks. Everybody’ s heard of Monte Carlo, the worlds most famous gambling resort. Everybody wants to know what it is really like. It has been reproduced to the most minute detail in this spectacular film. “Monte Carlo” is a riot.
