MILTON AND THE LAND.
To the Editor.
Sir, —I should be obliged if you could answer me through your paper, the following question in relation to economics! Milton sold the copyright of “Paradise Lost” for £l5. Clearly the copyright was wealth! What had land to do with the production of this wealth. —I am, etc., “ECONOMICS.” [ln the spirit of our correspondent’s question we might say the land fed Milton, though economists do not usually carry the association between the soil and works of art to such lengths. Some economists argue that the creative artists are the only producers.—Ed. S.T.]
