TURKISH IMPOSTOR

POSES AS KURDISH PRINCF

LION OF FRENCH WATERING PLACES.

Paris, January 17.

For a month past Nice has been dazzled by a handsome young man dressed in a khaki uniform and a red fez. Wearing the Legion of Honour medal and staying in a luxurious flat as the Prince of Kurdistan, he claimed be a direct descendant of Haroun El Raschid, of Arabian Nights fame. He has usually been surrounded by women admirers, but the police spoilt his triumphs as they visited the flat and found that he was a Turk who had been deported from England, Switzerland, and the United States, and has also served a term of imprisonment in Germany.

He had in his possession an elaboratelysealed document authorising him to negotiate on behalf of Kurdistan, as well as a list of addresses of wealthy Englishmen and Americans, from whom he doubtless intended to borrow money. He also carried large collections of insignia of many Orders. When arrested he had only a few shillings, and was illegally wearing several decorations.—A. and N.Z.
