WELLINGTON FIRES
OFFICES AND STOREROOMS DAMAGED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 17. At 4.45 p.m. on Saturday the Fire Brigade received a call to 74, Dixon street, to a two-storeyed brick and iron building containing offices and store-rooms. It is understood the fire broke out in the ground floor. The first floor, severely damaged by fire and water, was occupied by Dyes and Chemicals, Ltd. The ground floor of 67, Dixon street, occupied by the Toledo Scale Company, was damaged by smoke while the contents of the top floor, occupied by the Excelsior Supply Company, Ltd., were damaged by fire and water. No insurances are available. At 7.15 p.m. the Brigade was again called to 92, Vivian street, to a two-storeyed, five roomed wood and iron dwelling and shop. The building, which was unoccupied, was owned by F. Goodwin. The woodwork in kitchen was damaged by water and cutting.
