The Masterton Age reports a serious outbreak of diphtheria in the Wairarapa district. Over £2OOO is to be spent on laying out the grounds of the Palmerston North Hospital. Killing ut the South Otago Freezing Company’s works is still being carried on at liigh pressure, and there is every indication of business proceeding as usual well into July in spite of the termination j)f the commandeer at the end of the present month. As an indication of the development of the company, it has recently purchased a locomotive at Wesport.
