SOUTH ISLAND CHEESE DISPOSAL.

(To the Editor). Sir, —Dairymen will observe two very important items of news from the North Island, Mr Morton’s statement, showing how careful the banks are getting about advances and dairying business. Also, re shipping facilities as set forth in the resolution of Mr Forsyth, of Eltham. These will have considerable bearing upon the dairying interest in the future and demand attention. Lying closer to hand is the disposal of our cheese, and it being a big matter of such importance I will not take it up just now, but whatever the prospects held out by the •‘Wholesale Co-operative Society,” I think the dairy factories would be well advised if they abstain from any precipitate action, and adopt a non-committal policy for this year at least. There are many large firms who could place the whole of the New Zealand cheese as well as the above with such a fine high-sounding and taking name. I do not write in the interests of any firm nor against any, but for the welfare of the industry. Whatever may be done, I do trust, that if there be any consigning, it may be on open consignment and not on any account on consignment without recourse. —1 am, etc., CHEESE.
