NEW ZEALAND MEAT
CONTINENTAL AND AMERICAN OFFERS. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 22. Mr Powdrell (Haweral stated that in his capacity as chairman of a freezing, company he recently received a cablegram from the Continent offering a much higher price than the Imperial Government for 5000 I tons of mutton. He had a similar offer ■ from America, but was not allowed by the Imperial Government to fill the space necessary. He c-lso received inquiries for a certain class of beef at enhanced prices. This indicated that the prices of meat would not fall when the Imperial Government’s agree ment, terminated. Ho urged the necessity of dairymen pressing for pro rata space in meat ships.
