NATIONAL DAIRY ASSOCIATION DISCUSSION. ASSURED SERVICES MOVEMENT. (Fcr United Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 22. At the national Dairy As'-ociation conference to-dev, Mr Forsyth (Elthamt npr. Ed :—“That this meeting is of opinion that the time has arrived when the dominion n'ridueors, together with (he Government, should have a controlling influence in a fleet for the carriage nf produce, and that it be a recommendation to the executive to •m-operate with the South Island Dairy Association and also with wool, me"t, and other producers, to approach (he Government with a view nf getting financial assistance or lcgi F.it ion providing for a levy on all exports to provide funds for th" purpose of obtaining assured and reliable shipping services with reasonable freights, or establishing an independent shipping line if such should become necessary. The question was keenly debated, some speakers arguing against what was thought to be the introduction of the principle of the export tax. Eventually the motion was altered, the words "to devise a scheme” being substituted for the words “providing for a levy on all exports,” and adopted.
