THE PONSONBY MURDER
ELEVENTH HOUR STATEMENT. TWO OTHERS IMPLICATED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 21. Dennis Gunn, in a statement taken byMr J. W. Poynlon, S.M., admitted that he and another man robbed the Ponsonhy Post Office, and alleged that a tnird man shot Mr Braithwaite. Both men mentioned in the statement, arc in Auckland. The statement has been forwarded to the Minister of Justice. EXECUTION TO PROCEED. DECISION OF THE CABINET. WELLINGTON, June 21. The statement made in Auckland by Dennis Gunn reached Wellington this afternoon, and a inerting of the Caninct was railcti almost immediately to consider what steps, if any, should be taken concerning it. The decision as announced by the Prime Minister after the meeting was as follows : ‘‘The Cabinet has fully considered the statenunt nisne by Gunn, and has come to the conclusion that there is nothing to warrant it in altering the decision already ar rived at.” Nothing is being divulged as to the contents of Gunn’s statement. As the date licxd for the execution is lomorrow morning, the decision means that Gunn will be hanged forthwith.
