OBITUARY
LORD COZENS HARDY. (By Telegraph.--Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! LONDON, June 19. (Received .Tune 21, 12.5 a.r.t.) The death of Lord Cozens-Hardy is announced. The Rt. Hon. Herbert Hardy, first Baron Cozens-liaruy, was born in 1838. He was educated at Amersham School and London University. He sat in the Hon e of Commons as Liberal member for Norfolk front 1885 to 1889. when was raised to the. Bench as a judge in the Chancery Division of the High Court. In DGI he was made a Lord Justice of Appeal and became Master of Rolls in 1907, holding that office until 1918, when he retired. He wa-s chairman of tne Historical M.S.S. Commission from 1907 until the time of his death. He is succeeded by his son, the Hon. W. H. Cozens-Hardy, K.C., and Liberal member for Norfolk since 1918. A NOTED FINANCIER. NEW YORK, June IS. (Received June 21, 12.5 a.m.) Mr George W. Perkins, the financier, is dead. George Walbridge Perkins, one of the most prominent financiers in America, was born in Chicago in 1802 and started his business career in the Chicago office of the New York Insurance Company in 18i'7. He became a partner in the banking firm of J. P. Morgan and Co. in IJOI and retired in Did. Hr then became a director of the International Mercantile Marina Co. and the U.S. Steel Corporation and Inter was chairman of the finance committee and a director of the International Harvester Co. He was also interested in railway and insurance companies. Mr Perkins was a director of the Y.M.C.A. in America. He interested himself in art and in scenic preservation.
