Mr L. F. Melrose, of the Invercargill Post Office has received word of his promotion to the accountants’ branch of the General Post Office, Wellington. On his vacating the presidency of the Southland Farmers’ Union yesterday, Mr W. Couser was accorded a vote of thankg for his services, the motion being carried by acclamation.

A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Peter’s Caversham, on Wednesday last, when Miss Flora Ann McKay, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs McKay “Riverbank Farm,” Mossburn, was married to Mr B. Sharpe, only son of Mr and Mr Sharpe of Caversham, Dunedin. The Rev. W. Uphill (late of Lumsden) officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty frock of white satin, with the usual veil and orange blossoms, and caried a beautiful bouquet of white chrysanthemums, heather and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was her sister, Miss Mary McKay, who was attired in a pretty frock of white voile, trimmed with yellow, and she carried a bouquet of pink and white chrysanthemums. Mr Sidney kmdlater was best man. After the ceremony a large number of guests were entertaind at breakfast at the Waratah tearooms, where the usual toasts were honoured. Later on the happy couple left for Christchurch, where the honeymoon will be spent.
