NEW GOVERNOR-GENERAL. LORD FOSTER APPOINTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) LONDON, June 14, Lord Foster, formerly a member of the House of Commons for Sevcnoaks, has been appointed Governor-General of Australia. Lord Foster is a sound constitutionalist. He played cricket against the Australians during their visit to England. Lord Forster entered the House of Commons in 1592, and ten year? later obtained the minor post of a Lord Commissioner of (he Treasury. He was Financial Secretary to the War Office from 1915 to the end of the war, and was made a Privy Councillor in 1917, being also a member of the Army Council. Educated at IHon and Oxford, he secured a place in both those cricket elevens, and he, has also represented the Gentlemen against the Players. He is 54 years of age. His new position carries with it a salary of £10,090 a year.
