CHRISTCHURCH, June 15. There are no new developments in connection with the grain and produce market. Though the stagnancy has developed a few sellers in oats, (lie tone of the. market- is very firm, and local merchants anticipate this condition of affairs continuing. The Australian drought is not having any effect on quotations, the market remaining comparatively strong in anticipation of New Zealand requirements. Lack of shipping is reducing business to a minimum. Chaff is in the same position as oats. North Island inquiries cannot, be met on account of the inadequacy of trans-port. There is no life in the potato market, and an outlet is badly required for the big Canterbury surplus. METALS. The following table shows the movement in metal prices in the last fortnight. Quotations are for spot delivery - : May 25. June 3. June 7. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 15. (Received June 15, 8.15 p.rn.) For many months the Hoinebush market has been over-crowded with stock from the drought-stricken areas. Amongst other offerings were many thousands of breeding ewes and young wethers, which were sold at. sacrificial prices. With the coming of rain, however, the position has completely altered. There is a great demand for restocking purposes, and this has caused prices to rocket and largely depleted the market for mutton supply. In a lesser degree the cattle market has been similarly affected.
