COMMITTEE’S REPORT. The following committee reports will be presented at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Town Council: — TRAMWAYS AND ELECTRICITY. The Committee reports: —Having held aver consideration of tire question of purchasing one-man frame are, pending a report being received from Mr K. J. Dorrnn; having appointed J. Robertson to the position of fourth shift engineer at the power-house, salary as per schedule; having pone through the application for the position of revenue clerk, and submit the following three names —H. A. Edmonds, H. K. Mills, and A. S. Thomson; having opened tenders for cast iron water mains from Briscoe A Co., A. A T. Burt.. Richardson. McCabe & Co., and John Chambers A Son. and referred them to the Town Engineer; having authorised requisition by the Tramways and Electricity Department amounting to ,£44S 6/6. GAS, WATER AND TRAMS. The Committee recommends-That the Railway Department be communicated with regarding the simply of secondhand tarpaulins to cover coal trucks from Bluff to Invercargill: that an extrusion of about. 12 chain? of electricity mams be made in idles road. The Committee recommends; That the increased wages of Id per hour granted to the reserves employees- as from April 1 he made retrospect ive as from January 1. 1920. The Committee reports; Having gone through the annual estimates and referred them to the Finance Com mi tree; leaving under consideration the correspondence from V. A. Verity, D. T. Tippett and C. IE Powell re Seaward Bush Endowment Leases; havtng examined accounts amounting to £133 14 2, and passed same for payment. BEELIC WORKS. The Committee reports;— Having granted second-hand dealers' licenses to Martha Jane Vincent, of Dec street, and A. E, D. Stuck, vf Dee street, the inspector's and police reports being satisfactory; having granted James Hunter permission to erect a signboard in Dee street on the usual conditions, and subject to an indemnity being signed: h:iv;ng no reeomm-m.dation to make with regard to the application by the Invercargill Tourist Company f,.r a special taxidriver Itcen.-c for James Melvin; having carefully considered the letter from the Chief Health Officer regarding alterations in put,lie health legislation, and recommend he be informed that in the opinion of the Council the Government should convene a conference -it which local authorities could be rc-prcs-mired by their Town engineers and Sanitary inspectors, with the object of revising the Public Health Acts and the MuniJial Corporations Act.
