ISLA BANK. Calcium Hall was the scene of much activity on Friday evening when a concert and sale of produce was held with the object of raising funds to renovate the local hall. An energetic committee had been working quietly for some weeks, and the front of the hall was filled with the result of their canvass. The people of the district were present in force, while visitors from Riverion, Thombury, Fairfax, Drummond and Otahuti were amongst the large audience that filled the hall. Mr R. McDonald presided, ami the following contributed vo cal itenis to the programme:—Mrs Lilico, Misses Lilico, McKenzie and Nuttall, anil Messrs Lilico, McCrostie, Nuttall and McDonald. Mr George Duke rendered two fine violin selections. The audience recorded their high appreciation of each item in no uncertain manner. The concert was opened and closed by the singing of the National Anthem. At the conclusion of the concert, Mr Colin Lindsay, of Winton, took charge of affairs, and in a surprisingly short space of time had disposed of the gifts which the committee had received.
