SYSTEM OF CONTROL MR MASSEY’S VIEWS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 3. Mr Massey to-day denied the accuracy of a statement in the Public Service Journal that he is in favour of political control of the Public Service. “Such a statement,’’ he said, “is entirely contrary to fact. A bill is ct present being drafted and will be submitted to Parliament during the coming se:rion v.hich will strengthen the existing law with regard to non-political control, and which will remedy certain defects in the Puh’ic Service Act itself. In Baying that 1 stend by what I said to a deputation which waited on me some six weeks ago, to tbs effect that the Government should be consulted in regard to all appointments to th« administrative divirion of the Public Service which is practically restricted to th« pen- anent heads of departments.”
