EXPERIMENTS AT LINCOLN. ! (Special to the Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. At a meeting of the Canterbury Members of Parliament Committee to-day, Dr F. W. Hilgendorf waited on the committee and -■-plained the scope of the wheat growing . experiments at the Agricultural College at Lincoln. He said that he wished to interest members in the efforts at the college to improve the quality of cereals in Canterbury. Special attention hud been given ito wheat. Grass was the most important crop, but it was more difficult to deal with. A grant of £IOOO had been asked for. , In reply to questions, Dr Hilgendorf said hat the college was particularly adapted to jxpcriinrnls of that character, but it wished io carry on its ordinary work at the same time. The advantage of conducting experiments at the college lay in the fact ! that it had all the labour, the implements, he land and everything else necessary. Experiments could be conducted at the college more cheaply than if those things had to oe supplied anew. Mr Witty said that the Government had ranged to convert the soldiers’ poultry ,rm at Avonhcad, Riccarton, into an experimental fann for Canterbury. In reply to Mr McCombs, Dr Hilgendorf said that the college was arranging for supj plies of pure wheat seed for farmers generally in Canterbury-
