Received May 31, 12.25 a.m.l Warner, in an article in the Standard, says the rivalry of views in the selection ol men for the Australian tour has given English cricket a great impetus. If; declares: “Cricket is simply booming throughout the countryside. I do not remember when the interest among players and spectators was so keen or play so fine. Hobbs, W. Coley, J. W. Hearne, Hendren, Killner, and Meade are especially noteworthy. It is now clear that the English will secure a very powerful batting and fielding side. The bowling is still doubtful, but the prospects are more promising. Durston, the Middlesex giant, is proving a fast bowler, one of our best.’' TENNIS. SOUTH AFRICAN INVITATION TO AUSTRALIA.
