In reviewing the report and balancesheet the chairman congratulated the (Hub on a very successful season and stated that to a great extent this was due to the spirit of fellowship which had prevailed amongst the officers of the club. The club Lad been particularly fortunate in its new members, who had organised competitions with other clubs and had in many other ways taken an unusually keen interest in the game. The Champion of Champion singles match had been won by a Northend Chib’s representative, Mr \V. Matson, and while the club had not succeeded in winning any of the olher competitions, it had closely contested several events. A rink had represented the club at the Dominion tournament at Christchurch, and although they had not been successful they had given a good account of themselves. There was reason for gratification in the fact that the club had gained second and fourth in the champion pairs. The season had also been very satisfactory from a financial point of view and increased revenue had been derived from members’ subscriptions and the building fund. The club Lad commenced the season with a debit balance of £4 Its hut had now a credit of £1 10s. lie formally moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. The annual report stated that the committee had to congratulate the club on what in many respects had been the most satisfactory year in the club’s history. The weather, though decidedly unpleasant at the outset, had. been unequalled for bowling from the middle of December on, and the playing surface had been ideal. In this connection the thanks of the members were due to the caretaker, Mr Wilson, and to Mr J. Holloway. At the official opening of the green a granted double photograph was unveiled by the President’s wife as a memorial to their old comrades, Messrs T. Watson and O. E. Cederman. The club was represented in tournament play at various centres with gratifying results. At the Dominion tournament at Christchurch Messrs D. J. Wesney. T. A. Wallace, C. E. Hannah and J. The new members of the ciub had been quite a feature of the season and the beginners had displayed great worth as clubmates and showed ability as players. It was with regret that the committee had to report- the death of one of its most jiopular bowlers in the person of Mr W. H. Johnston who had ably filled the position of secretary. His death had been keenly felt by his elubmates. The committee abo regretted having to record the death of Mr W. Craig, who was for many years an active niemh'T and a generous donor to the funds of the club. He was also one of the founders of the club.

It Was unnecessary to state that they were more than delighted at winning the Four Binks championship. In the inter-club fixtures, both Wednesday and Saturday, the club was not -•</> successful, and Messrs Stevenson, Macdonald, Strang and Bremner were also unsuccessful in their efforts to obtain final possession of the Garfield Crawford shield. In addition to winning the banner, the club's representatives, Messrs Bremner and Iggo and Messrs Strang and Stringer, won the Mayor’s Doubles. Messrs Bremner and Iggo also won the Champion Doubles, while Messrs Bremner and Stevenson and Mr Stringer secured third prize in the doubles and singles matches respectively at the Southland tournament. The billiard table, the only source of income to the club besides the members’ subscriptions, had attracted a large number of members. Apart from the financial aspect the table had been the means of keeping members in touch with each other during the off season. The thanks of the club were-due to .Mr Baltin, who had charge of the table. Thanks were also due to the caretaker, Mr Maxted, and to the green ranger. Mr McLean, whose attention to the green had made it one of the best plaving area# in Southland.
