MEXICO CITY. May 24
Persons accompanying Carranza’s body say he was shot while in bed on Friday morning. Thirty shots were fired through a thin wall, six of which struck Carranza. Eight others were killed. Herrera pleads that Carranza committed suicide, but it is understood that the autopsy showed this to be untenable. Great* crowds attended the funeral.
The session of Congress selected Adolfo Buorta, Governor of Sonora, as interim President of Mexico. He received 244 votes against 28 for Gonzales.
